When it comes to precision and efficiency, every detail matters—especially in the automotive industry. So when a major car manufacturer asked Hamilton to design a custom solution capable of hauling their valuable injection molds with serious care, we put our safety skills into overdrive.

The challenge: protect and secure the molds—crucial for the production process—during transport between buildings using Kalmar forklifts. According to the customer, the molds were prone to sliding on the forklift’s 12” x 5” thick forks, risking damage and operational delays. They required a more secure method for moving the molds safely and efficiently. Here’s how we made sure our bespoke transport performed like a well-tuned engine of protection:

• Lip service: To secure the molds, we designed a 6-inch lip around the perimeter. The lip acts as a physical barrier, adding an extra layer of protection by containing the molds and reducing the risk of slippage

• Anchor assurance: We equipped the transport with three evenly spaced tie downs on each perimeter side, providing multiple secure points to chain down the molds and prevent unwanted movement

• Thermoplastic protection: We covered the transport surface with an Ultra High Molecular Weight (UHMW) lining to protect the molds from abrasion and impact

Now the molds can move seamlessly between buildings, the manufacturer can focus on what they do best—creating top-quality vehicles—and we can keep innovating and improving for our customers.

How’s that for putting safety and precision in the fast lane?
