Movers and shakers

When it comes to heavy lifting, we’ve moved just about everything. But entire buildings? That’s a new one. So, this month, we decided to go big in designing not one, but two custom dolly systems that stretch, expand and flex their muscles to tackle payloads as hefty as 120,000 lbs.

The XT3609: A modular moving marvel

We designed this versatile skate system for a moving company that can expand or contract on command, able to move multiple modular building sizes ranging in payload from 14,000 to 23,000 lbs. The system includes three skates—one on each end with a combi coupling and a central skate for extra support. With the customer’s own tuggers pulling this behemoth along, maneuvering giant superstructures is one home sweet haul, thanks to Hamilton.

  • Capacity: 25,000 lbs.
  • Dolly Set Dimensions: Dynamic
  • Steering: Each end system is a caster steer with the middle center system having rigid/fixed casters.
  • Running Gear: Swivel poly casters equipped with 4SL's on end skates; Rigid poly casters on center/support skate
  • Coupling: Each end skate will contain mouting for female combi coupler provided by the customer
  • Finish: Steelwork painted safety yellow

The XT3611: A 120,000-lb. titan trailer

Custom-built for a building manufacturer with sky-high needs, the XT3611 was engineered to move buildings too heavy for cranes to handle. The challenge? Designing a low-profile dolly with massive load-bearing capabilities. The result? A beast that can handle up to 120,000 lbs., featuring omni-directional movement, corner cutouts and flexible sizing to accommodate various building dimensions.

This four-dolly system doesn’t just cradle—it maneuvers with precision. The low deck height keeps the weight balanced, making transport easier, while omni-directional capability allows push-and-pull movement from any angle. Corner cutouts lock onto building brackets to prevent slippage, and shackles offer added security with tie-downs. Perfect for smooth surfaces—indoors and out—the XT3611 redefines what’s possible—no crane required.

  • Capacity: 120,000 lbs. (total system capacity)
  • Dolly Capacity: 35,000 lbs.
  • Deck Material: Steel
  • Deck Size: 30" Wide x 30" Long
  • Deck Height: ~11-3/4"
  • Frame: Structural steel / internal fork pockets, tie bar tube
  • Running Gear: (4) S-MDD-83NYB-4SL
  • Superstructure: (6) lifting shackles
  • Finish: Safety yellow epoxy with polyurethane top coat

Who’s ready for their next big move?
